Boris Johnson said that the wolrd “does not have enough time” to stop Iran’s nuclear programme
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday that the world “does not have enough time” to stop Iran’s nuclear programme, Israeli media have reported. Johnson made his comments during a visit to Downing Street by Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
He added that Herzog’s visit to Britain is “an important testimony to the strength of the relationship” with Israel. He is proud of this relationship despite Israel’s ongoing brutal military occupation of Palestine and is being described as an “apartheid state” by both B’Tselem and Human Rights Watch earlier this year.
Herzog expressed his hope that the countries set to negotiate with Iran over its nuclear programme will be “tough” with Tehran. “Be as tough as possible because we do not believe that they are operating in a bona fide manner, and only if all options are on the table may things move in the right direction,” he told Johnson.
The Israeli official went on to thank the British government for its decision to declare Hamas in its entirety to be a “terror organisation”. According to Johnson, although the decision was “controversial”, it was ultimately correct.
Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said that Israel “will never” be part of any deal that could be reached with Iran. “The mistake we committed with the signing of the first nuclear deal in 2015… will never be repeated.”
