Saudi Arabia has asked the US for hundreds of Patriot missiles in order to restore the quantity consumed in the war in Yemen.

The Patriot is used against aggressive UAVs and missiles to protect the countrys oil fields. Saudi Arabia is fighting the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels. Saudi Arabia recently requested to buy 280 AIM-120C7/C8 AMRAAM medium-range air-to-air missiles.

According to the same report, in October Saudi Arabia faced 29 UAV attacks and 10 missile attacks, while in November it faced 25 UAV attacks and 11 missile attacks. In total, since the beginning of the year, 375 UAV and missile attacks have been recorded against targets in Saudi Arabia, mostly oil targets.

The success rate in intercepting these threats is around 90%, according to the Washington Post.
