The Military Times revealed that the Ukrainian armed forces used the US Javelin anti-tank missile system in Donbas as reported by defencenet. ru.
According to Military Times, which quotes Kirill Budanov, head of the main intelligence directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Ukrainian armed forces used the US Javelin anti-tank missile system for the first time during the hostilities in Donbass.
“Budanov told me that Ukrainian troops used the Javelin weapon system during the fighting,” Howard Altman said.
Kiev has not yet made any official statements about the use of Javelin in the Donbas.
According to the head of the Ukrainian military intelligence service, there are plans to use US Javelin anti-tank missile systems together with Turkish Bayraktar drones as a deterrent to the forces of the Russian-speaking autonomous republics DPR and LPR.
We recall that the use of these weapons is prohibited in Donbass and is a violation of the Minsk agreements.
In his conversation with the editor of Military Times, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Budanov, appealed for help to Washington.
He stressed that Ukraine needs help and support from the United States as soon as possible.
Recall that the supplies of Javenlin in Ukraine have been carried out since 2018. Kiev has already received 37 launchers and more than 200 missiles.
The USD 60 million aid package includes the delivery of Javelin systems.
In addition, the Pentagon calls on the allies to lift restrictions on the supply of defence systems to Ukraine.
Commenting on Kiev‘s use of Javelin anti-tank systems in Donbass, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that “Ukraine is obviously going on provocations“, defencenet. ru reports.
“I haven‘t heard this news, I haven‘t seen any reports. But in principle, in the last weeks and months, we have seen this kind of behaviour on the part of the Ukrainian leadership. Especially on the part of the Ukrainian Army, the mood is particularly dangerous.
Because when such bellicose rhetoric is unleashed, it obviously reflects the desire to carry out a provocation,” Lavrov was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying at a press conference after talks with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bu Habib.
