Turkey’s medium and long-range surface-to-air missile systems HISAR can start production in Egypt, as a joint production between the two countries.
The information was published days ago and concerns Egypt’s desire to improve its anti-aircraft capabilities. It is no secret that Cairo has been trying to attract foreign production to Egyptian territory in recent months.
Currently, the Egyptian authorities are trying to make the same deal with the United States, with the idea being for Cairo to upgrade its existing Abrams tanks to A1M2 at the same plant that was built years ago for these tanks and is Abrams’ largest foreign producer. the world.
Turkey and Egypt are on good terms. In recent years, the two diplomatic missions in the two countries have held regular meetings to discuss joint defense options. Last but not least, Egypt is an African country that regularly buys weapons and weapons systems from Turkey.
In this regard, according to the Tactical Report, a joint production of medium and long-range surface-to-air missile systems HISAR is quite possible. Turkey would not mind providing production under license to the Egyptian government if it decides to buy several batches of the Turkish air defense system.
HISAR was developed in 2007 jointly between Roketsan and Asselsan. The first company produced surface-to-air missiles for the system, while Asselsan took over the construction of all types of sensors. HISAR has two versions – HİSAR-A and HİSAR-O.
HISAR-A / HISAR-A + is an air defense system with a short range of action – range from 5 to 15 km. The system uses the chassis of an ACV-30 chain armored vehicle. HISAR-A / HISAR-A + uses HE warheads, which, depending on customer preferences, can be equipped in Rocketsan with percussion and immediate fuses to effectively destroy air targets flying at medium altitudes.
HISAR-O / HISAR-O + is a system with a medium-range – operational range up to 25 km. Unlike the previous version, here the chassis is a Mercedes-Benz Zetros 6×6.
