According to a video posted by Ukrainian residents in Obolon, Kiev, a Russian tank appeared on the streets and even ran over a parked car.

The Russian army is tightening its grip on the Ukrainian capital, according to an AFP reporter.

Exchanges of fire and explosions could be heard in the suburb of Oblonsky (Obolon), while several muffled explosions could also be heard from the city centre.

These are the first reckon teams to attempt to pave the way for the main Russian forces.

Obolon is about 10 km away from the city centre.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense issued a statement calling for resistance to be organized by the residents: “We ask the citizens to inform us about the enemy‘s movements, make Molotov cocktails, neutralize the enemy!”
