Sweden‘s Saab announced that it has signed a contract with the French Directorate of Armaments (DGA) for the supply of Barracuda advanced camouflage systems to the French Army. The duration of the contract is eight years and deliveries will be made on an annual basis.
The contract also provides for joint work between France and Sweden to adapt the Barracuda to the operational requirements of the French Army. Barracuda are multi-spectral camouflage nets, which provide trace protection to vehicles, other systems, buildings and facilities and outdoor locations such as command centres, mortar and machine gun elements, etc. Their use reduces the trace (optical, UV, IR), thus reducing the likelihood of detection at long range.
