Armed clashes occurred near Martyrs‘ Square in Libya‘s capital Tripoli, as tensions rise with the political crisis the country is experiencing following the postponement of presidential and parliamentary elections, ‘Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath‘ notes.
The Arab source confirmed that some roads leading to Martyrs‘ Square were closed, amid a state of panic among the citizens.
Interior Ministry spokesman Abdel Monem al-Arabi confirmed that an armed man from the warring groups was wounded in the clashes, saying there were no civilian casualties or property damage.
He said the rival groups were not related to the Interior Ministry and that further conflict was ruled out, noting that Interior Ministry patrols in the centre of the capital had been increased to monitor security
