Egypt managed to build its own TOMA.
The National Defence Production Organisation, part of the Egyptian Ministry of Defence has developed the SENA 200, the new tracked armoured fighting vehicle (TOMA) fully designed and developed in Egypt.
The vehicle was presented to the public for the first time at the Egyptian defence equipment exhibition EDEX 21.
The design of the SENA 200 appears to be very similar to the Soviet BMP series of armoured combat vehicles, but according to the Egyptian defence industry, it is an entirely new vehicle.
The vehicle is based on crawlers with anti-sway bars and shock absorbers on each side of the five ground wheels with the drive wheel in front and the slider in the rear. The upper part is protected by armour plates.
The front of the SENA 200 has a sloping front plate with the driver on the left and the power compartment on the left. The driver‘s seat is equipped with fully digital displays for controlling and driving the vehicle.
Its interior layout was designed to provide a high level of comfort with individual seating for each Soldier and crew. Each side of the vessel is equipped with three day periscopes and three firing ports as reported by proelasi. com
The personnel compartment is in the rear with six infantrymen sitting back-to-back in individual seats. They enter and exit the vehicle through two manual doors located at the rear of the boat, each with a small window and a firing door.
According to the SENA 200′s promotional brochure, the vehicle‘s hull offers ballistic protection up to Level 4 of the Standardization Agreement – STANAG 4569 from 14. 5 x 114 mm small arms armour piercing (AP) fire. The floor of the vehicle offers protection against mines up to Level 3 of the same STANAG 4569 from the explosions of 8 kg of trinitrotoluene (TNT) mines under the hull and crawlers.

The front and sides of the SENA 200 can also be equipped with grid protection against rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) to neutralize RPGs by disrupting the firing mechanism as the incoming rocket is trapped inside the grid.
The SENA 200 is powered by a diesel engine producing 360 hp. The vehicle can travel on the road at a top speed of 65 km/h and has a range of 600 km. The vehicle has a low silhouette with a length of 6. 1 m, a width of 1. 88 m and a height of 1. 88 m. It has a combat weight of only 14 tonnes. According to the analysis on the Army Recogniton website, the SENA 200 appears to have amphibious capabilities and is propelled through the water using its crawlers.
The SENA 200 can be equipped with a wide range of weapon systems and can accept an automatic gun of up to 30 mm calibre. At EDEX 21, the SENA 200 was equipped with the Eagle 1 remote controlled arming station (RWCS) jointly manufactured by the Egyptian company Arab International Optronics and the Spanish company Escribano Mechanical & Engineering.
The Eagle 1 is a fully stabilized RWCS that can be mounted on crawler and wheeled armored vehicles. The RWCS has uncooled thermal and daytime thermal sights and daytime sighting cameras as well as a laser rangefinder and an observation, tracking and reconnaissance system.
The tower is armed with a 12. 7 mm machine gun. It can be rotated 360º with an elevation of +60º to –20º.
